About

TowerTennis is an annual tennis tournament limited to airport personnel and associates of the Airport Control Tower in Des Moines, Iowa.

Championship Trophies
In 2004 a group of air traffic controllers started playing tennis after work.  Before long - the benefits of exercise, and camaraderie of the weekly competitions became evident.  As that first summer started to wane - thoughts of an end of season competition started to emerge.  It was felt that the formal nature of a tournament would bring out the best efforts of all involved.  Air traffic controllers are competitive by nature, and the interest was sparked in both players and non-players alike.  A tournament was created - evolving over the years into its current form.
Regional Champions

The TowerTennis Championship is designed to accommodate players of vastly different abilities!  By using a self-sorting bracket - matches get harder if you win, while getting easier if you lose!  As a consequence - players will naturally gravitate toward a satellite bracket with opponents of similar abilities.

Once there, you'll find yourself competing against someone as close to your own ability as possible.  You will then compete for not only a satellite championship, but a chance to make the playoffs!

Self-Sorting Bracket
Winning your regional bracket earns you both a regional title, and a playoff berth!  The region you win determines where you'll be seeded in the playoffs.  Once in the playoffs -- It's single elimination to the championship!

The playoffs are a culmination of the regular season - a showdown of the best players to emerge from their respective satellite regions.

As players move between different brackets, and regional victors emerge - a relative order is revealed.  Players will be seeded into the Playoffs based on the region they emerge from.
